2. Notes on Anti-Cheating

This is a fairly large section which we will cover in a separate section.

3. Choosing the Correct Script Version

The correct script version is always the latest one. You can find the script version in

  • the title of any script window, for example SmartCJ Pro 1.39 (update 39 - the latest at the time of writing this guide)
  • in the Main tab under news it says something like Updates and news ( Your last update # : 39 )

4. Verifying Successful Installation

If you log into the admin panel and there are no warnings in the Main tab - everything is fine. If there are - pay attention to the FAQ in the wiki.

5. Template Configuration (Settings-Layouts)

SmartCJ has many parameters for each trader, but not all of them are necessary for your work. You can create (and they exist by default as examples) several variants of displayed parameters for each trader (uniques, clicks, etc.). For example, for a general overview of traders you can create a short list of parameters, for more detailed study - include in the list of displayed parameters the trader's position in the top or Alexa rank. Later, in trade, you can switch between these layouts on the fly.

6. Trade Settings

To change trade settings, log into the admin panel and click “E” to the left of each trader (EDFSC - Edit Delete Forces Stats Color). Make sure all your traders have the following settings:

Active: Yes Ratio: to your preference, usually 120 as the base value VIP Trade: hold ratio - no Trade type: normal IN Trade Type: uni Eligible for Exout hits: yes Include in Toplist: yes fast force: 0 hourly force: 0 force time: 0 Personal First click: no Use Personal skimming or scheme: do not use Limit Out Hourly: 0

These are 'default' settings, so there's a chance you won't need to edit anything. When changing skimming settings, remember that personal skimming has priority. That is, default skimming (settings-cjsettings-content settings) is less important than personal skimming of each trader.

7. Basic Settings

In the admin panel go to Settings-CJ settings. I recommend starting by reviewing these parameters.

7.1 Maximum Number of Counted Clicks

Counted clicks Max (ie all clicks after click number X go to overclick)

This number sets the maximum number of clicks that the script will consider real. When a person or bot comes from a trader and downloads your site completely or clicks on each link, then the productivity of such a trader increases greatly and at first glance, it seems that this is the best of your traders. And without this parameter, the script will return traffic according to such high productivity. Luckily SmartCJ can limit the number of clicks that are effective. If you set this parameter too low, for example 2-3, then the productivity of your traders will be approximately the same, because high productivity from traders comes mainly from visitors who click more than 5 times. However, if you make this parameter too high, then this module will become ineffective and bots will be able to click as much as they want, which will ultimately kill your site. The value of this parameter depends on your productivity: if it is in the region of 0-100%, then you should set the value in the region of 10. If your productivity is above 100%, then in the region of 15. If your productivity is very high, 400% and above, then you probably have many real visitors who click more than 15 times, but this is often unlikely.Recommended value: 15

All clicks that are not credited to the trader are treated as overclicks for the system trader. For example, you can set personal skimming for those clicks (100% to content). Keep in mind that in practice no more than 50% of visitors generate all site productivity: out of 100 surfers on an average CJ, 50 close the window immediately, 20 make one click, and the remaining 30 click enough to push the site to 200%-300% productivity.

7.2 Managing NoCookie Traffic

Most traffic trading scripts, including SmartCJ, use cookies to track surfers on your site. When a surfer lands on your site, he receives a cookie that contains information about where he came from, these cookies are read to determine which trader is credited with the click. Therefore, when a surfer has cookie support disabled, you should not send it to traders, because even your traders will not be able to track where this hit came from (in this case, from you), and any clicks made by this surfer will not protect you. So not only are you sending traffic that does not increase your productivity to your traders, but you are actually hurting the trader because it will lower your outbound productivity because you are sending traffic with 0% productivity. The best option is to send nocookies to surfers in the gallery, so there is a chance that the surfer will bookmark you and return to you later with cookies enabled.Recommended value: Send to gallery (skim 100%).

Note that there are slight differences in nocookie traffic: if index.php smart is used for counting hits and there are no cookies - this is definitely a browser that doesn't support cookies (alternatively - cookies are disabled, blocked by firewall, etc.). But just like in most other scripts, smart has the ability to count cookies via include. Include sets a cookie using JS, so surfers with JS disabled will also be counted as nocookie. This doesn't negate what was said above, but gives an idea that not all nocookies are the same.

7.4 Managing NoReferrer Traffic

About 75-80% of noref traffic is bookmarks. But the remaining 20-25% are surfers whose referrer field is blocked (sometimes firewalls do this), or they are spiders/bots/something else that does not have this information at all. There are at least 3 theories on what to do with the skim in this case. a) Set the value low: give your bookmarks a lot of opportunity to go to traders, because their productivity is high and they will help you grow faster. I think this is a bad idea because in this case you will very quickly lose your bookmarks. b) Leave field 101 (= default skim): in this case, your site remains the same for surfers, regardless of whether they bookmarked it or not. This will provide you with an honest estimate of the productivity of the outbound traffic your bookmarks are generating.c) Set to high: give your bookmarks as much content as possible. Your traders will not benefit from your bookmarks. The first option is the worst, of course; Bookmarks need to be accumulated by all means; they give stability to your site when there is little regular traffic. They are similar to rebills; they make you money when there are few signups. Recommended value: leave empty, or set skim to 10%-20% more than regular traffic.

7.5 Managing traffic with a blocked referrer.

When the server clicks on a link that goes to /out.php, usually your own domain is set as the referrer. If the http_referer field is empty, SCJ cannot tell where the hit came from, and even worse, when that surfer is sent to trade, your trader will not be able to determine that the hit came from you. Thus, sending surfers with a blocked ref to trade is a waste of traffic. Recommended value: Set skim to 100%

This is true, but if you send with an ID (for example http://trader.com/?id=yourdomain.com),) then the hit will most likely be counted, but this will not increase productivity.

7.6 Managing NoTrade Traffic.

NoTrade traffic is traffic that comes to you from sites/domains that are not in your list of traders. For example, if you post a gallery and have recips to your site, such traffic can be counted as NoTrade. Also, NoTrade traffic can come from forums where links to other adult sites are posted, and so on. And clicks made by traffic from search engines are considered (although not counted) as NoTrade traffic. It's often relatively easy to convert NoTrade into bookmarks if you give them as much content as possible on their first visit. Before you make a final decision on this value, watch the referrers list for notrade traffic for a couple of days to make sure what kind of traffic you have in NoTrade.Recommended value: leave empty, or set skim to 10%-20% more than regular traffic.

CE clicks also often get into nottrade, for example from cached pages (refs like http://209.85.129.132/search?q=cache…..) and translation services.

7.7 Managing Extra traffic.

When the surfer has visited all traders in the outgoing list and clicks on the link, which usually sends him to the next trader, the exout module is loaded. There are several options for what to do in this case. 1. Send all content (gallery) 2. Send to the exout URL 3. Send to more traders

I’ll note right away that if your hits reach exout, it means you have few traders. In any case, a surfer who has called out even 30 traders is no longer a completely normal surfer.

Recommended value: send to gallery (100% for content)

7.8 Rebuild and restore.

All script data is located in the MySQL database (its name can be found in scj/includes/config.php). By default, the script makes backups every day, but if you wish, you can ask the admin to set up database backups as often as you want. Whatever happens, you can simply restore the database from backup and everything will be as before.

If for some reason the script files are missing, you can rearrange the script and again restore the database dump.

8. Skim.

Which skim should I set? Do I need skim on all links? Is the first click on content really useful? It seems that every webmaster asks these questions and no one knows the exact answer. There is a reason why there is no definitive answer, and the reason is that every site is different and this requires different approaches to different settings. However, there are a few guides you can follow.

* Low skim equals low outbound productivity When you send 20% of traffic to gallery and 80% to trade, outbound productivity will be very low. You can argue by saying that despite the low productivity you will be able to send a lot of this traffic, but in the end quality is much more important than quantity. Also, if you send too much to trade, webmasters may mark your site as pure CJ and ban you for cheating if you try to trade with their TGP/IGP. There is also an opposite theory:

* High skim (usually) equals high outgoing productivity. When you give your visitors a lot of content, their attitude towards being referred to a trade becomes much better and this is reflected in your outbound productivity. In fact, the best trader is the one who uses only or mostly direct links and/or a toplist for trading. Examples of such sites are www.vidsvidsvids.com and www.thumbzilla.com/main.html. The trick is to find the right skim; not too low in which your outgoing productivity is low, but not too high in which you will not be able to maintain a trade with your traders. Unfortunately, most sites try to trade with low productivity and high return, when they should be doing the opposite, because when your outgoing productivity is high, your traders start sending you more traffic. So how do you achieve high outbound productivity?

There are several ways:

* Create a toplist There's nothing better than clicking on a toplist (except maybe clicking on a banner), so create one and make sure it's clearly visible without being annoying. Use the description fields for the toplist in SCJ to tell the surfer what he will see, or if you trade with thumb sites, then use the thumb from them and insert them into the toplist. Thus, the surfer will click on the link in the toplist as if it were a link to a gallery, and on the trader he will immediately see this gallery.

* Give your bookmarks (noref traffic) a good skim 80% - 90% on the gallery for bookmarks will give you the fact that they will come back to you and give you a good boost, making a lot of clicks from your traders.

* Trade with productive traders: It sounds obvious, and it is, but I see a lot of webmasters ignoring this and continuing to trade with bad traders. If 50% of your traders have good productivity and 50% are bad, kill the trade with the 50% bad and find new ones. There are many adult sites, so there is always a choice. The more productive traffic you have, the easier it is for you to get bookmarks from it, and the more productive they are when you send them to trade. However, when all your traders have low productivity, the problem most likely lies with your site, not with your traders.

9. Collecting Bookmarks

One of the great features of SmartCJ is that you can vary the skim for each trader. This will give you the opportunity to accumulate bookmarks. This works especially well with those traders who already have high productivity on your site. How it works:

9.1 Select a site that sends you productive traffic. It should be more productive than your average across all traders. The reason for this is that usually productive traffic has a lot of bookmarks, or such traffic is easier to convert into bookmarks.

9.2 Give this site fast forces for several hours, the force time should be approximately between 2 and 6, or even more if you have such an opportunity. This way, you will instantly climb up your trader's outgoing list and get his best traffic. If you really want to get to the top of his list, drain a little traffic in the first hour, then as much as you can in the next 60 minutes, then a little more, and keep repeating this. This does not work with every site, but most sites are subject to this manipulation. This requires a lot of effort.

9.3 Give the traffic coming from this trader 90% - 100% skim and use the first and second click on the content.

9.4 This way you will receive the best traffic for your trader, so when a bookmark on your trader goes to trade for the first time, it will most likely end up on your site. And with the amount of content that he will receive, and with the fact that most of these surfers have a habit of bookmarking adult sites, you have a good chance that he will bookmark you too. Do all this for 10-20 days and switch to another site, because after this period, most likely all your trader's bookmarks have looked at your site and you will begin to suffer from poor returns.

Important: This can harm your site because it usually reduces your return to traders. Monitor your site constantly during this procedure and do not expect immediate results. But don't try this method for just one day; this will be a loss of traffic and time.

11. Outgoing list - Slots

The online documentation about the Outgoing list is very detailed and worth reading Out Settings, but there are a few undocumented points that fit nicely into this guide. Outgoing list division: Creating two or three sectional breakdowns in an outlist is a very difficult technical task that will help optimize your settings. The list below is an example of a three section breakdown.

Slot Points

1 100000
2 75000
3 50000
4 5000
5 3750
6 2500
7 50
8 25
9 10
10 1

Due to the huge difference in points between the three blocks, 50K - 100K, 2500 - 5000 and 10 - 50, you can be sure that the three traders from the first block will be shown before the three traders from the second block, and the traders from the last block will be shown last. Compare this to a regular list with parameters 125 - 100 - 80 - 50 - 30 etc., where each trader has the opportunity to be shown first, even though the first slot may receive 2-3 times the amount than slot number 6 for example. The question is, what are the benefits of list splitting and when should you use it? There are 3 options:

1. Traders in the first block will receive your best traffic; the surfers who go to these traders have not yet entered the trade before. If one or two (or even three) of your traders are actually too good for your site compared to your other traders - they will send you more than you can return, their productivity is extremely high and you are forced to maintain constant forces on them, then splitting the Outgoing list is what you need. By driving high-quality traffic back, you make the trade worth the attention of both sites and can raise your low returns a little.

2. When you block one or two really good traders, it's like giving them fast forces without actually doing it. The downside of this method is that the trade may change (due to various reasons) and you will quickly waste all the traffic on it. But using AT algorithms that allow you to recalculate the outgoing list every minute, you can be sure that you are giving your top traders a huge boost while they deserve it, but not a minute more

3. Every trader who reaches first place with you quickly receives a powerful return; this increases the speed of rotation of the outgoing list and when your traders do not differ much from each other in the quality/volume of trade, this gives your surfers the opportunity to constantly meet new traders. When you should use a split is a different story. But the answer is almost never. I only use it when I start a trade that is too big for my site, but I know it's worth it to dump the majority of my traffic there. For such traders, you should use either an Outgoing list split or a force. And when you want to understand which traders need to be supported when you start to grow and can respond with forces - dividing the Outgoing list is a suitable solution.

12. Outgoing list - mod bonus.

This item should be replaced with Trade Formula. Unlike other scripts, SmartCJ does not hide anything from the user and allows you to configure everything exactly as you see fit. Moreover, thanks to this, you can configure the smart to work like any other script works.

So, the bonus system in scripts like ATX involves increasing the trader’s priority for productivity, returns, etc. SmartCJ has a clearer option with many options - it is an open trading formula.

You can independently regulate which parameter to give more weight to. For example, when accelerating the CJ site, it makes sense to allocate more weight to hourly parameters, and for maintenance - to daily metrics.

13. New traders.

Go to the Settings - New Trade menu.

I recommend setting new traders off by default, and writing in the rules that to activate a trade you should contact via ICQ or whatever is more convenient for you. This allows you to kill 2 birds with one stone - obvious cheaters will not knock asking you to activate a trade, and domains that were registered after all, but no one knocked, can be immediately noted :)

Important: In the 'Trade rules' section, make sure that you explain that trading with new traders is in capped mode and the return will be very low until they pass verification. If your minimum trade size (paragraph 7) is very high, this is also worth mentioning. note: (highlight in bold) Personally, I suggest everyone keep their trade forms closed and leave only the icq number for anyone interested. Cheaters are unlikely to contact you via ICQ. The best way to search for traders is to check toplists. Find a large site in your niche and select traders from its top list.

14. Archive pages.

New Rotation Step By Step

15. Alternative home pages.

Alternate homepages are beneficial for a variety of reasons: increasing your income, getting bookmarks, increasing productivity, etc. To increase the productivity of your site using alternative pages, the best thing you can come up with is matching your trader. For example, if your trader has a large toplist on the top right, you can do something similar in yours because the surfer will recognize the design and know where to look for the gallery. Or if your trader offers full-length movies divided into 20 parts, the best idea is to offer the same on your alternative page. Sites, mainly MPG of course, are bookmarked quite often for special offers on movie movies, so from traders who offer this, you can expect a lot of bookmarks looking for new and different movies. Alternate homepages are also good for identifying clicks of different patterns and skim levels in no time. Use the main page with &c=1, &=2, &=3, etc., and keep an eye on the statistics. Or try different toplists, one with only the site name, another with a title and description, a third with a title and a picture, fill out all the linktags and check the statistics on them after a day to choose the best option.

16. Frequently asked questions.

How many forces should I set?

The amount of your hourly forces should not exceed 35% of your outgoing traffic to traders. For example, if you send 2000 hits per hour to a trade, then the sum of your hourly forces should not be more than 0.35 * 2000 = 700 hits per hour. There are 2 reasons to follow this rule. The first is that SmartCJ reserves 30% - 45% of your outgoing traffic for forces. If you set more, they simply may not be fulfilled. The second reason is that when you force too much, you interfere too much with the return algorithm: it doesn't have enough traffic to fulfill its goals.

It is also worth adding that the script distributes uniques, so if you have 100 clicks per hour, under certain conditions the script may not be able to force 40 hits to one trader. Why does this happen? As noted above, in practice no more than 50% of visitors generate all site productivity: out of 100 surfers on an average CJ, 50 close the window immediately, 20 make one click, and the remaining 30 click enough to push the site to 200%-300% productivity. Those 100 clicks are actually made by those 30 people. Accordingly, in this example the script can force at most 30 hits to one trader, because anything beyond that would no longer be unique.

How big can my average return be?

On a regular website, on average 110% - 115%. If your return is around 70-80%, you are undersending and unless your outbound productivity is huge, there is no reason for your traders to send you more traffic and your site will not grow. If your return averages 140% - 150%, then you resend. There are several reasons for this: * If you are at the top of all your traders, they physically cannot send you more traffic than they already send. Add new traders, find some big ones. * Your skim is too aggressive. When you send 50% of clicks to a trade, your outbound productivity won't be too high, but you will have tons of traffic going to the trade. But when quality is more important than quantity, you can send as much traffic as you want to your traders, but they won't give you as much back. Increase your skim to send more content. As a result, your outgoing productivity will increase and this will have an impact on your returns.

In reality, your return should be sufficient to keep you in the top trader, say in the top 20, but best of all, of course, in the top 10. The top traders get hits first, and as a rule, these clicks are of higher quality. Traders outside the top include surfers who have made 10 or more clicks on your trader, but it is not a fact that he still has the desire to click heavily now on your site.

You can control a trader's place in the top by Trader Top Position (column in Trade)

What should my internal productivity be like?

It depends mainly on the skim. When you send a large amount of traffic to a trade, it is foolish to expect high productivity. When your productivity is 100% - 150%, you probably don't have enough clicks to grow. Above 200% - 220% with a 60% skim is what you need to start. These numbers are very approximate and may not necessarily apply to every site.

Virtually, you can represent the total number of clicks that a user is inclined to make as a constant. The more clicks he makes for you, the less he makes for the trader. If your sales are too high, the surfer will not be inclined to click on the trader, unless the trader is much more interesting than your site. Accordingly, if external sales are very high, it makes sense to lower the skim and send more to traders, while receiving more returns. But we need to monitor changes in traffic.

Where to look for traders?

- Most ABM forums have a trade section. - View toplists of large sites in your niche. It is unlikely that there will be a cheater on a large site. - Look at the signatures on the forums; Webmasters often place links to their sites in their signatures. - Ask your current traders.

How many exout hits do I need?

Between 0 and 1. When the surfer has visited all your traders, he will be sent to exout. You can set exout to gallery or to a specific URL. If you have a lot of exout hits, you need more traders because some surfers have viewed all your traders but still continue to click.

I repeat: if you have exout, it means you have few traders.

Why do I forward traffic to small traders?

- You have a poor outgoing list. If all the slots on your outgoing list have approximately the same number of points, you cannot encourage any of the top trades to grow and most traders will receive too much traffic, simply because the outgoing list is not configured properly. Your average return is not necessarily high in this case, but it can be very high for some traders. - Your minimum trade size is too low. - You don’t have top traders who deserve more traffic than the rest. Every site has at least one, or preferably 3-4, of these traders, with super productivity and excellent returns, to whom you can send the lion's share of your traffic. But this is not only good for successful growth and accumulation of bookmarks, but they also help the script better distribute traffic, because it is much easier for SCJ to choose the best trade. - Your skim is too high.

Why do I not send traffic to small traders? The script evaluates the attractiveness of each trader using the trade formula. In such cases, it is recommended to add weight to the parameters of relative (rather than absolute) debt - then a debt to a trader of 10 hits (with a trade size of 100 hits) will look more significant for the script than 100 hits of debt with a trade size of 10,000.

Why is my site not growing?

In order for a site to grow successfully, all aspects of your site must also be in order: you must have the right traders, the right script settings, you need very fast hosting, good content on the site, a good TGP script that will help increase productivity, a good design with simple navigation and a color scheme that is pleasing to the eye, and so on. If one of these elements is bad, the site will not grow, no matter how much effort you put in. The key to success is the ability to find what was done wrong; you can keep deleting and adding new traders because your productivity is low, but if your server has speed problems, then you're looking for a problem in the wrong place and you simply won't be able to solve it.Make a list of all the important things and check step by step if everything is correct. Does your site load quickly from all parts of the world? Do your traders match your website? Do other people like your website design? Ask the forums to look at your site for errors, it's actually not a shame ;-) Work hard step by step and you will succeed.

See section Troubleshooting and FAQ - I try to add all questions there as they arise.
