I can't seem to get my prod anywhere where it should be.
Since redirects to videos really feel slow on my smartcj site, I tried to analyze:
This is analyzing a smartcj link to content
https://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.assbetty.com/ZMBZl2LC
The redirect takes a whole 1.53s
and a whole 1.49s status is waiting.
It keeps that way if you analyze the same link.
This is a smartthumbs link analyzed on the same server.
https://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.hardse ... m/Z8YSBFE9
The redirect is done in 152ms, 10x faster.
Question, what is causing the redirect to wait for 1.49 seconds?
How can I improve this?
Slow redirects
Re: Slow redirects
I see the same score for both links
Anyway the actual difference is in links
The first one is like
http://domain/video/gallery_slug/index.html
so we have to connect to DB and find out url for gallery_slug
the second one is
http://domain/......&url=http://xhamster......
so we already have a link and all we have to do is to issue a redirect
You can have the same thing with SmartCJ if you link like
http://domain/scj/cgi/out.php?url=http://xhamster......
At the same time SmartCJ tries to cache DB requests to make it faster. Most likely you don't use any modern cache engines so it uses file cache which is slow and\or your hdd is overloaded.
Am I right ?
What's your hdd load ?

Don't forget to run script update
Re: Slow redirects
you need to look at the waterfall chart to see what I mean.
I am using redis as the cache engine...
Not sure how to check the HDD load?
If it speeds up the redirect, I will try switching to the link structure you suggest and see if it makes a difference.

Re: Slow redirects
You can try
iostats
url redirect definitely will speed up things but with redis is should be pretty quick so if you see that hdd is not loaded - send me access to the server, i'll check it

Re: Slow redirects
No idea how to read the HDD stats.
If the HDD is overloaded, the question is why is it overloaded.
Because traffic is at a rock bottom.

Re: Slow redirects
PM sent.
Btw, we are in the middle of a OS update.
We will be updating all server software too.

Re: Slow redirects
if I am using links like this: /scj/cgi/out.php?url=<!--URL-->
it looks like all clicks are getting handled as nocookie clicks.
is there anything else I need to change?
