Editing groups for galleries doesn't work

Some galleries are being placed in groups that they aren't supposed to be in.

I'm trying to remove the unwanted groups under rotation>list thumbs>edit item and after clicking save the groups aren't updated for the gallery and the same groups remain. Also tried mass edit and groups aren't updated either.

1. make sure you have all updates
2. make sure you do have main group in ext groups list, if you don't script will add it to ext list
