В общем стало все ясно, я в конфиг tcms добавил "$config["sphinx_host"] = '127.0.0.1';"
Поиск заработал.

у меня таже сама проблема
прописывал и в конфиги и админке
на самом сидже выдает

если добавить 127.0.0.1

но на сайте не работает, пробовал и localhost и 127.0.0.1
в конфиге сфинка

пробовал и

и

но могу сказать сразу - 51-я версия работает без вопросов, ищет, выводит
