Deleting Redis cache - separate for each site?

Post by alexscj »

Hello,

when using Redis, wondering if "Delete cache" in Rotation - Specials does:

1). delete all cache at server level for all sites regardless if they're independent installs or slaves

2). deletes only that site's specific cache

3). deletes the cache for all sites that are part of that master-slave scheme

Hi,

It wipes out current redis DB (redis can have up to 16 dbs)
So if all of your sites use the same db - yes
If you have a separate for each - no.

Typically sites in a master-slave scj scheme use the same Redis db?

Redis DB is setup for each site separately so it doesn't matter whether it's a master-slave or 2 separate sites. It all depends on your setup.

I'm using

$config['redis_database'] = 0

across all sites.

(Server/site) performance wise would you advise on using the same Redis db for all sites or it's better to use separate Redis dbs?

While I have you here ), one more related question:

The bigger the "Cache time, seconds" in Rotation Settings, the more server memory Redis will consume?

Somebody's always here
so anytime )

Well, yes and no.
Cache size mostly depends on site layout, amount of galleries and so. Cache time affects the size as well but not that much.
But amount of memory used by redis is setup in redis config ...

Thanks for the reply, in case you missed my previous question:

$config['redis_database'] = 0

across all sites.

I think differences here can be ignored (if any exist)
